SafeSport – Training

As of 2014, the SafeSport training program is required as part of Registration as an Official. The material is extremely valuable and informative, and we ask your assistance in encouraging others to view the 16 short video segments and complete the training. All total, the program takes approximately 90 minutes, but does not need to be completed in one session.

Making this online training/education available to our members is one of the most exciting aspects of the USA Hockey SafeSport Program as it provides the information needed to help prevent abuse. The training was produced by the United States Olympic Committee, which has also helped to make the program available to our members at no cost.

You’ll need your USA Hockey membership number (confirmation number from online registration as a Player/Coach, Official or Manager/Volunteer) to access the training. If you don’t know your USA Hockey membership number (confirmation number) you can access it from www.usahockeyregistration.com – under Member Options, click on ‘Request Duplicate Registration Confirmation’.

To access the training, click on the link http://training.safesport.org. Click on the Register button on the bottom right hand side of the page. The registration code needed to register is SAFESPORTUSA. You will then be asked for your email address as well as a password. In the drop down menu for “Select Organization,” be sure to select USA Hockey. You will then be asked for your membership number, which is your USA Hockey confirmation number. Next, click on the red register button on the bottom left side of the page.

You now have an account with SafeSport. You will only need to register the first time to set up the account. Once the account is set up, you will use your email address and password in the sign in area to access the training.
